Before he became an attorney in 1986, William Bernhardi was a Social Security Claims Representative and a Social Security State Agency Disability Analyst, where he acquired extensive experience in nonmedical and medical claim adjudication.
As an attorney, Mr. Bernhardi has concentrated in disability claims (Social Security, Railroad Retirement, NYS & Local Employees Retirement). He also has trial experience in matrimonial and family law. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. District, Western District of New York. The infrequency with which he must appear in federal court is a measure of Mr. Bernhardi’s success with disability claims at the administrative claims level.
He is a past committee chair and active member of the Erie County Bar Association Committee for the Disabled, and he has lectured on a variety of social security related topics to members of the Bar Association and disability advocacy groups. He frequently advises other attorneys on the subject of Social Security and disability claims.
